Liberal Democrat organisers in the new parliamentary constituency of Kenilworth and Warwick have learned that a serious error by Royal Mail has meant that the wrong candidate leaflets have been distributed across parts of the constituency. And with only days to go the Royal Mail now has little time in which to correct their error, leaving the party fuming.

'We've learned that in some areas leaflets from the Warwick and Leamington Lib Dem candidate have been delivered in error to voters in Kenilworth and Southam constituency', said John Whitehouse, the agent for Kenilworth and Southam Lib Dem candidate Nigel Rock. 'It's affected addresses in Cubbington, Lighthorne Heath and Harbury, and probably Wellesbourne, too. There may well be more we haven't yet heard about.'

'We've checked, and we know that the Lib Dems gave Royal Mail exactly the right information and we're not at fault.'

'Now Royal Mail are trying to get the right information out, but there's not much time, and of course it's too late to help postal voters who've already cast their vote. It's been difficult enough for many constituents to understand the new parliamentary boundaries introduced for this general election, and candidates, and now all the hard work we've done to try to inform local residents risks being undone by this dreadful mistake by Royal Mail.'

'Our message to electors in Kenilworth and Southam is that they will have got the right leaflets from us, addressed to them personally, and they should ignore anything unaddressed delivered to them by Royal Mail which talks about Warwick and Leamington'.
