Councillor John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey) has bid successfully for county council funding in 2007/2008 for measures to address speeding traffic problems in New Street, Kenilworth. The bid was agreed yesterday, subject to formal confirmation in March.

John said:

"Local residents have been complaining about this for years. Last year we carried out speed surveys to prove the problem, and then I worked with a local resident to survey the views of everyone living in New Street and the immediate vicinity. This demonstrated a clear case for action, which I'm very glad to say my county council colleagues were happy to support.

The level of community involvement and support was a key factor in my view in this bid being successful."
