In the automobile industry, Nigel worked on efficiency, reliability and safety of vehicles, with specialisations in aerodynamics, weight reduction and crash protection. He also worked in aerospace, most notably leading the team that worked with clinicians to develop and refine the crash landing brace position. This work arose from Nigel's participation in the investigation of the Kegworth air accident of 1989.
