Baroness Ros Scott, national president of the Liberal Democrats, was in Dunchurch on Friday night for a fund-raising dinner with local party members and supporters.

Ros Scott was elected President of the Liberal Democrats on November 8th 2008 in a ballot of all eligible members of the Party, and took office on January 1st 2009. Her background is in local government in Suffolk, having been both district and then county councillor. She led the Lib Dem group on Suffolk County Council until 2005, and was a founder member of the Local Government Association. In the House of Lords she has been a frontbench spokesperson on both local government and transport.

During the evening Ros discussed the forthcoming county council elections with Nigel Rock, parliamentary spokesman for Kenilworth & Southam constituency, with county councillor John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey) and with Sue Roderick, our county council candidate for Feldon division.
