KICC, the Kenilworth Initiative for Climate Change, is hosting a Green Exhibition at St. Francis Church Hall, Warwick Road, Kenilworth on 29th August 2008 between 1.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. Entry to the exhibition is free.
The exhibition aims to answer three key questions:-
1. Why is it important to tackle climate change?
2. What actions can individuals take?
3. What help and expert advice is available?
There will be film shows, expert advice and exhibition stalls, with lots of ideas on how everyone can help to make a difference - for example by energy conservation solutions for their homes, by recycling and composting, and by using green travel alternatives.
KICC was formed following a large and successful public meeting on Climate Change arranged by the then mayor of Kenilworth Cllr. Pat Ryan (Liberal Democrat, Kenilworth Abbey) at the De Montfort Hotel on 21st January 2008. More than 100 members of the public attended the event. A Steering Group chaired by Pat Ryan has been meeting regularly since February to develop the ideas discussed at the public meeting and to create a local action plan. The Green Exhibition will provide the first opportunity to report back to the public on how their ideas have been developed.
County councillor John Whitehouse (Liberal Democrat, Kenilworth Abbey), one of the organisers of the Exhibition, said:
"We have a wide range of exhibitors, with something to interest everyone. After the success of the public meeting on Climate Change earlier in the year, we are hoping for a really good attendance on the 29th August."
