Cllr Ann Blacklock
A long campaign by district councillor Ann Blacklock (Liberal Democrat, Kenilworth Abbey), for Warwick District Council to address the persistent flooding problems at Kenilworth Cemetery caused by the underground collapse of antiquated drainage, has resulted in success at last.
The Town Council became very concerned, after Cllr. Blacklock reported the continuing problems, and wrote many times to the District Council , who maintain the cemetery.
Finally, the District Council has announced that £45,000 has been set aside in this financial year for Phase One of the repair work, probably to start in the autumn. A further £30,600 will be required next year for Phase Two.
Cllr. Blacklock said:
"I'm very glad I didn't give up, and eventually persuaded senior officers that this work is urgent and essential. We must stay alert however to make sure the rest of the money is found to complete the scheme."
