New Councillor Bev Mann
In an amazingly tight contest yesterday, Liberal Democrat Bev Mann unseated previous Conservative councillor Peter Barton to win the Harbury district council election by 11 votes, polling 861 votes to 850 for the Conservatives.
Bev now joins fellow councillor Andrew Patrick on the District Council, in a Liberal Democrat clean sweep of the Harbury ward. Congratulations to all concerned for a very effective campaign.
Elsewhere in Stratford District, Liberal Democrat candidate Michala Piotrowski came agonisingly close to unseating the Tories in Wellesbourne, just missing by 5 votes.
In total, of the 19 seats up for election in Stratford District yesterday, the Liberal Democrats gained 5 seats at the expense of the Conservatives. An excellent day's work, which demonstrated how unpopular the Conservative-led council are across the district.
