Liberal Democrat councillors have reacted cautiously to news from Warwickshire County Council (WCC) of a change of operator on Kenilworth town bus services 539 and 540 with effect from Monday 18th February.
These services, which are supported by WCC subsidy, have been provided for a number of years by Johnsons Excelbus, but in future will be provide by Lewis of Coventry. WCC has stated that the new operator will use low floor easy access vehicles similar to those used by the current operator, and will be operating with an unchanged timetable.
County councillor John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey) said: "We shall monitor these changes carefully to ensure that there is no reduction in the standards of service on these routes. These bus routes are very popular in particular with some of the older residents."
