Cllr John Whitehouse in Henry Street, Kenilworth
The fight for better street lighting in The Blundells and Henry Street, Kenilworth looks as if it has been won by Cllr. John Whitehouse.
Subject to final confirmation in March, the county council will install three new streetlights in The Blundells - making things much safer for pedestrians, especially St. Nicholas School pupils, parents and visitors on dark winter afternoons and evenings.
In Henry Street, all eight of the old concrete lighting columns will be replaced with modern street lighting. This should improve road and pedestrian safety in this residential street.
John says: "Both of these projects are long overdue. Henry Street residents were telling me about poor lighting before I got elected in 2005, while the school has been trying to get improved lighting in The Blundells for a long time. I'm delighted we're getting the go-ahead at last."
