After 18 months of work and a public consultation that managed to upset nearly everyone, the Conservative administration of the County Council has dropped its plan to revise the funding formula for all Warwickshire schools.
Cllr. John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey) and other members of the Liberal Democrat county group had criticised the plan for failing to address the key strategic decisions affecting schools, and of producing illogical results - removing funding from some schools and giving to others for no apparent good reasons.
By May all schools will be producing their new 3-year budgets, and will do so on the existing basis of funding.
The Tories, or whoever controls the County Council after next year's elections, now have the chance to get it right next time. Will they be up to the job?
