Severn Trent has published its 2008 programme of works affecting Kenilworth. The overall programme of work to renew and provide increased capacity in the town's sewerage system has been underway for the last two years.
The 2008 programme is complex because the works are concentrated in the town centre, and overlap with other major works and events happening in the town this year - in particular the construction of the new Waitrose supermarket and the associated traffic management changes.
County councillor John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey) is a member of the Liaison Committee that meets regularly with Severn Trent to monitor and review the programme of work. He said:
"Some disruption is inevitable during these changes, but I think most people understand that the work has to be done for the longer term benefit of the town. Severn Trent's communications with local businesses, residents and councillors continues to be first-class, and so far they have managed to stick closely to their published time schedule."
