Parents from St. Augustine's School Kenilworth have won an important first victory in their battle to get a pelican crossing in busy Beehive Hill.
Supported by Liberal Democrat county councillor John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey), the head teacher and parents presented a 285-strong petition to the County Council at the meeting of the Warwick Area Committee on Tuesday evening.
John spoke strongly in favour of the campaign, highlighting the many letters received from individual parents and local residents, and also a recent traffic speed survey which had proved the dangers faced by schoolchildren and other road users on a daily basis.
County councillors agreed unanimously to ask officers to prepare a formal response to the petition for consideration at their next meeting in January.
