Cllrs Ann Blacklock & Pat Ryan at Kenilworth Police Station
Liberal Democrats in Kenilworth Abbey ward have recently distributed a local Crime Survey to over 3,000 households across the town.
Analysis of the survey results shows that Kenilworth residents are concerned about crime and policing, but in general have less fear of crime than the popular press would like you to believe:
1. 48% feel more at risk than a year ago, while 52% feel things are about the same.
2. 56% feel safe going out after dark.
3. 65% have not been, and have not known, a victim of crime or anti-social behaviour in the last year.
4. 52% had good or average experience of policing, but 48% had poor experience.
5. 98% said there were not enough police on patrol.
The other problems in the area were identified as being litter and rubbish, graffiti, pot holes and pavements.
Liberal Democrat local councillors have discussed the survey results with Kenilworth Police, and have used it to inform discussion in local Safer Neighbourhood panel meetings.
