Kenilworth Traffic - The Future Is Decided

Cllr John Whitehouse

County councillor John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey) has welcomed the unanimous support of fellow members of the Warwick Area Committee for a new traffic management plan for Kenilworth town centre when the Talisman Square redevelopment is completed

.

Last night's decision, which followed a period of extensive public consultation, was to proceed with a modified version of Option 3, with a further review within 12 months to decide whether to adopt a modified version of Option 2.

John said after the meeting:

"This is a sensible and pragmatic decision. Option 1 was clearly not preferred, while the balance of argument between the other two was quite a fine one. Officers listened to the feedback obtained during the public consultation, and made a number of important changes to Option 3 that removed most remaining doubts about it. Most notable of these is a proposed No Right Turn out of Waverley Road into the Warwick Road.

In the meeting I paid tribute to the hard work of the group of Kenilworth stakeholders to help shape the plans and options prior to the public consultation. Their efforts played a major part in helping to secure last night's decision."
