Councillor Pat Ryan (Liberal Democrat, Kenilworth Abbey) has attacked Kenilworth Conservatives for their latest leaflet which appears to claim credit for stopping parking charges for local residents at Kenilworth Castle.

Pat said:

"Last Summer I put a resolution to the Town Council stating our opposition to parking charges on residents using the Brays car park at the Castle, because I believe it conflicts with residents' traditional free access to the Castle. This was opposed by the Conservatives, largely on the grounds that it would upset English Heritage, and it was defeated.

Last week I saw a leaflet being delivered by the Conservatives suggesting that they had successfully defended residents' parking rights at the Castle.

On 6th December English Heritage applied for planning permission to install parking ticket machines at the Castle.

Need I say more?"
