Rugby Liberal Democrats are calling on the Tory-led Borough Council to act on improving local shopping areas such as Featherbed Lane Hillmorton, Abbots Farm Lower Hillmorton Road and Overslade Lane shops.
These local areas need investment such as new bus shelters, waste bins and CCTV. A recent survey of local areas by Liberal Democrat Councillors clearly demonstrated that in such areas as Overslade Lane and Featherbed the Council has failed to ensure that environmental enhancements have taken place. Overslade was compared to Beirut some years ago, as was reported at that time.
"Little has happened to improve these urban areas," stated Councillor Jerry Roodhouse following the survey of local centres, who also said " We shall continue to campaign for these areas to have their fair share of investment".
(Following pressure from local councillors Jess Upstone and Jerry Roodhouse, Featherbed is being promised a new bus shelter).
